Course Manager/ Head Greenkeeper – Pollok Golf Club, Glasgow

Pollok Golf Club is seeking an experienced and passionate individual to lead our greenkeeping team and maintain our renowned parkland course to the highest standards. Role Overview:

- Lead and develop the greenkeeping team, ensuring the course is presented to the highest standards at all times
- Contribute to the strategic development of the course in line with the ambitions of the Committee
- Promote the club’s ethos, culture, and style to members, staff, and visitors
- Implement industry best practices in all aspects of course management and maintenance
- Oversee turf maintenance, course preparation, machinery upkeep, and project management
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and relevant legislation
- Manage budgets, supplies, and relationships with suppliers

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and deliver maintenance schedules for optimal course presentation
- Prepare the course for play, including marking hazards, maintaining bunkers, tees, greens, and golf furniture
- Lead construction and renovation projects as approved by the Committee
- Maintain drainage, irrigation, and tree management systems
- Control weeds, pests, and diseases using best practice methods
- Ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained and operated safely
- Train, mentor, and review greenkeeping staff performance
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
- Engage positively with members and visitors, handling queries and feedback professionally

Candidate Profile:

- Proven experience in golf course management or a senior greenkeeping role
- Relevant qualifications (HNC, HND or Degree in turf management desirable)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Commitment to professional development
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, environmental, and compliance standards
- Knowledge of irrigation, drainage, pest management and modern turf care technologies
PA1, PA2 & PA6 certificates
- IT literacy and ability to maintain accurate records
- Chainsaw certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Full UK driving licence
