Description:
Due to career progression, we are looking for a Deputy Course Manager to continue to take Bramall Park to the next level by exceeding the expectations of our Members and Visitors.
Bramall Park Golf Club was founded in 1894 with the original 18-hole layout being designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie in 1921 with further modifications by James Braid in 1934. The course is a challenging 18-hole parkland golf course in the heart of Cheshire, Par 70 and 6,184 yards.
It is inclusive of a large practice ground, gently undulating and challenging terrain, offering an enjoyable experience to all levels of golf. The Club has just taken delivery of a new fully automated irrigation system covering all greens and tees, with further course improvement works being developed.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist the Course Manager in planning and supervising daily work programmes and improvement projects.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive maintenance schedule to ensure the Course is in top condition year-round.
- Supervise and lead the 6-person greenkeeping team to deliver high standards of Course presentation and maintenance.
- Ensure effective operation and maintenance of modern turf care equipment and machinery, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Conduct regular inspections of the golf course, and irrigation systems ensuring any identified issues are addressed promptly.
- Maintain compliance with Health and Safety legislation and best practices. Ensure there is a safe and efficient working environment for the team.
- Contribute to and maintain comprehensive records relating to fertiliser applications, pesticide use, weather data, staff rotas and maintenance schedules.
- Lead by example and deputise in the absence of the Course Manager.
- Assist the Course Manager in ensuring that all green staff are fully inducted, trained and developed to gain the ability to deliver high standards on the golf course.
- Identify new techniques or processes to be deployed on the course for more efficient and environmentally friendly working without compromising on quality and standards.
What we’re looking for:
- At least 3 years’ experience as a Senior Greenkeeper or Deputy Course Manager.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Sports Turf Management as a minimum qualification.
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates.
- Chainsaw certification (preferred but not essential).
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- A proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and solve problems as they arise.
- A genuine passion for maintaining high-quality golf courses and grounds.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety practices within the greenkeeping industry.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
- Good time management and teamwork abilities.
- Strong work ethic and team mentality.
