Deputy Head Greenkeeper - Withington Golf Club
Withington Golf Club was established in 1892, Set within the stunning Mersey Valley, with lush tree-lined fairways and responsive greens, Withington is widely regarded as one the finest 18-hole parkland golf courses in the Manchester and Cheshire area. Measuring some 6,388 yards, it offers a stern test to amateur and professional players alike.
We have made significant efforts recently to enhance and improve course playability with the installation of many new ponds and ditches which make the course even more challenging and enjoyable. We are continually striving to make further improvements to the course and our facilities for the benefit of our members and visitors.
We are offering an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our team.
Competitive Salary based on experience
The role will require:
- Assist in planning and organising work programmes
- To understand and implement the agreed maintenance programmes
- Implement and update the club’s health and safety policies and documents
- Assist in the day to day running of the department to maximise efficiency and productivity
- To serve in the absence of the Course Manager including attending meetings
- Lead, train and motivate staff
- A friendly and professional approach towards members, guests, and colleagues
- The ability to lead and work as part of a team and deliver tasks to a high standard
- A willingness to learn new skills and improve existing practices
- A hands-on approach to work
- A good understanding of safe working practices
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- A hardworking attitude and an ability to work from their own initiative
- A friendly and professional approach towards members, guests, and colleagues
- The ability to lead and work as part of a team and deliver tasks to a high standard
- A willingness to learn new skills and improve existing practices
- A hands-on approach to work
- A good understanding of safe working practices
- A minimum of 3-4 years of greenkeeping experience
- A minimum qualification of NVQ level 3 or equivalent
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates
- Chainsaw qualifications (desirable)
- 360 Excavator certificate (desirable)
- Irrigation system repair and maintenance
- Construction experience
- Thorough knowledge of modern greenkeeping equipment, and industry changes
- Have sound knowledge of the game of golf (desirable)
