Golfing at Invergordon can be traced back to 1893 and today stands as a wonderful 18-hole course just a 30-minute drive north of Inverness. Job Title: Head Greenkeeper Full Time

Place of Work: Invergordon Golf Club

Reporting to:

Club Manager and Greens Committee

Job Purpose

To manage the maintenance and development of the golf course and club grounds as agreed with the Committee and Club Manager.

Key Duties

To be able to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to deliver the following:

• Produce maintenance and improvement plans for the golf course that meet the direction and needs of the club

• Produce an annual budget in line with the agreed programme of maintenance and improvement works.

• Organise, implement, and participate in the planned programme of maintenance and development work.

• Make all necessary purchases of supplies and materials within the approved budget.

• Maintain a close working relationship with the Club Manager and the Management Committee.

• Communicate with and develop members’ understanding of the principles and decisions taken to maintain and improve the course and club grounds.

• Manage a small team and be able to demonstrate the ability to delegate and monitor effectively.

• Manage a staff rota system which includes weekend working.

• Organise the service and maintenance of:

       - Course machinery and equipment
       - The irrigation system
       - Maintenance facility

• Knowledge of the uses and safe operating methods of the equipment and tools used in golf course maintenance.

• Knowledge of turf diseases, weeds and pests and the methods and chemicals used to control them.

• Keep up to date with modern advances in materials, machinery and greenkeeping techniques.

• Understand and work within the Health and Safety, COSHH, Risk Assessment, SOP guidelines and club policies always; ensure that all duties performed are carried out with full regard to the safety of staff, members, visitors, and contractors.

• Keep up to date with all Health & Safety regulations and be able to complete risk assessments on all machinery operations and course maintenance activities.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful applicant must be a good team worker, highly motivated, able to make decisions and able to operate the full range of equipment associated with the post. He or she will be able to demonstrate a conscientious and hardworking attitude, with a keen eye for presentation and attention to detail.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

- Previous Greenkeeping experience
- Full, clean driving licence
- NVQ Level 3 or the equivalent in Greenkeeping and Sports Turf Management
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 Spraying Certificates (desirable)
- Good working knowledge of golf course operations & a thorough knowledge of the game of golf
- Knowledge of budget management and cost control, with the ability to deliver on financial objectives.
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Excellent Organisational Skills

It may also be useful, but not essential, to have:

- Chainsaw certification
- Current First Aid certification
- Salary will be commensurate on experience and qualifications.
