Rory McIlroy produced an unforgettable finish to win the 2025 Amgen Irish Open at The K Club.
Four shots back heading into Sunday, McIlroy carded a brilliant final-round 66. The defining moment came on the 72nd hole when he holed a sensational 30-foot eagle putt to reach 17 under par and force a playoff with Sweden’s Joakim Lagergren.
In the playoff, both men birdied the first two extra holes before Lagergren found the water on the third. McIlroy capitalised with another birdie to secure his second Irish Open title and his fourth victory of 2025 following wins at Pebble Beach, The Players Championship and The Masters.
The win sparked huge celebrations, with McIlroy calling the eagle “one of the coolest moments of my career” as he embraced his wife Erica and daughter Poppy in front of jubilant home fans.
