The Club:
 
Our stunning tree-lined course was originally conceived by renowned golfer and architect James Braid, whose other designs include Gleneagles & Carnoustie. Tiverton has always been regarded as one of Devon’s finest parkland courses, but with recent course improvements, Tiverton can now boast that the course is arguably the best parkland course in the South West.
 
Improvements include our new signature 12th hole, a short downhill par 3 nestled by a lake and a challenging remodelled 16th which is the beginning of a tough finish.
 
We are a busy members club and very proud of our heritage. We are looking to recruit a Course Manager to lead the team of greenkeepers and develop our already reputable golf course.
 
 
Job Purpose:
 
Overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the golf course, including maintenance, facilities, equipment and greenkeeping team. To continually improve the golf course conditions to the highest possible standard utilising all available resources.
 
To nurture, develop and retain a team of greenkeeping professionals.
 
Salary is in line with qualifications and experience.
 
 
Qualifications: 
- NVQ in sports turf management level 2, sports turf management level 3 & ideally sports turf management/business management level 4 or degree level qualification
- PA1, PA2 & PA6 spraying qualifications
- Chainsaw qualification
- 3 years minimum experience in an equivalent managerial role in greenkeeping

General requirements for the role:
- Financial acumen with regards to producing and managing a golf course budget
- Good proven resource management skills within greenkeeping
- Mechanical knowledge of all golf course equipment and all future developments within the industry,
- Procurement and purchasing experience of golf course equipment and materials
- Woodland management knowledge to include tree felling and crosscutting qualifications
- Strong team & leadership skills, including training, recruitment and knowledge of HR in small teams
- Actively participate in the various tasks required in the maintenance of the course, including (but not limited to) mowing, hole-changing, divot-filling, bunker raking, aerating, top dressing, fertilising, watering, spraying, pest control etc
- Golf Course project & construction experience within the following areas: greens, tees, bunkers, drainage, water storage, path work and general small projects
- Irrigation installation and repair knowledge. Experience in installing new projects would be an advantage
- A sound Health & Safety knowledge within the greenkeeping industry including chemical application/storage knowledge
- Communication skills, to the greenkeeping team, Club Manager and to the membership, via newsletters, presentations and attendance of greens committee meetings.
