Overview:
Rossendale Golf Club are looking for a dynamic and proactive General Manager to lead our vibrant and welcoming club. This is pivotal role, with responsibility for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the Golf Club.
Reporting to the Chairman, the General Manager will oversee all aspects of the Golf Club – including golf services, food and beverage, HR and membership experience. The General Manager will also work closely with the Management Board to help ensure delivery of the Club’s overall five – year Strategic Plan.

About Us:
Rossendale Golf Club was established in 1903 and is known as a challenging 18 hole golf course set in the beautiful Rossendale Valley, Lancashire. The Club offers a well-maintained course with stunning parkland views combined with a modern and welcoming Clubhouse overlooking the valley and surrounding areas.
The Club offers a wide variety of bar and catering facilities whilst also offering a fantastic venue for visiting social and business events.
About You:
We are looking for a motivated and hands on leader with experience and skills in running a golf / sports club or hospitality focused business.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in golf club, sports club or hospitality management
- Qualification (or studying towards) in Golf Club Management desirable.
- Inspiring Leadership and people management skills
- A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- “Hands on” flexible / practical approach
- Proficiency in use of relevant IT systems – IG, Xero and Microsoft Office
- Strong financial and commercial acumen with track record in business plan and organisation.
- Experience in driving improvement in membership and visitor engagement via use of digital communications.
- A willingness to work flexible hours to meet the demands of the position
- A valid UK driving licence.
Primary Responsibilities:
You will take the lead across the following areas:
People & Culture
- Lead, Inspire and support your team with clear goals, regular communication and leadership by example.
- Proactive and regular performance management and planning
- Ensure the wellbeing of staff and uphold high standards for both employees and members alike.
- Champion continuous improvement by embedding clear, achievable KPIs.
Finance & Planning
- Collaborate with the Board to help shape and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-term business plans.
- Monitor income and expenditure, highlighting opportunities to maximise revenue growth and drive cost efficiencies
Club Operations & Administration:
- Lead and manage the Food & Beverage operations ensuring delivery of a quality and profitable offering.
- Keep members up to date on club matters through regular communication and ongoing engagement.
- Manage compliance with all legal, licensing, HR and health and safety requirements
- Day to day responsibility for the finance and administration function
Marketing & Growth:
- Help grow the club by promoting the club’s offerings, events, and golf experience.
- Use social media and the club website to raise our profile and welcome new visitors and members.
- Collaborate with our professional on corporate days, society events, and open competitions
Clubhouse & Facilities:
- Oversee the care and maintenance of all the physical assets, inventory, and resources of the clubhouse and associated facilities.
- Ensure club IT systems and software platforms are maintained and fully utilised to maximise efficiency, engagement and compliance.
Golf Course:
- Lead and manage the Head Greenkeeper in the day to day upkeep, maintenance and development of the course.
- Support the Director of Golf in preparing a comprehensive Course Maintenance and Course Development Plans
