Overview:
As the Golf & Membership Manager at Harleyford Golf Club, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the pro shop, golf events, memberships, and the halfway house. You will play a key role in enhancing the member experience, organising prestigious golf events, maintaining high standards in service delivery, and driving the Club’s growth in terms of membership, retail, and guest interaction. A strong passion for golf, customer service, and management will be essential to succeed in this dynamic role.

Key Responsibilities
Events:
Organise and coordinate all large-scale golfing events at the Club.
Host and greet all event delegates, ensuring they receive a warm welcome, or delegate this role when absent.
Oversee tour events, opens, and external corporate events.
Promote member events effectively to maximise participation and visibility, ensuring the Club’s presence is well-known.
Pro-Shop Management:
Supervise and manage Pro-shop staff, ensuring high performance and a welcoming environment.
Oversee stock control, ensuring monthly stock takes are completed and products are well displayed.
Ensure efficient check-in, for all golfers and confirm payment before play.
Continuously improve shop services, enhancing profitability, performance, and aesthetics.
Manage hired equipment, and ensure maintenance standards are high, including regular quality checks and implement procedures to ensure returns are checked for quality.
Halfway House:
Become the main point of contact for the halfway house and assist with its development and promotion towards the members and guests of the Golf Club.
Perform Regular Inspections of the facility to ensure it is consistent with the image and high standards we aim to achieve at the Golf Club.
Membership:
Act as the Club’s Ambassador with external golf organisations such as England Golf and BB&O.
Manage Club memberships, including new members, renewals, and leavers.
Organise new member events to foster a welcoming community.
Enhance membership value, exploring ways to offer local discounts, perks, and member engagement opportunities.
Provide weekly membership summaries to the directors on membership activity and performance.
Ensure timely payment of direct debit membership plans in collaboration with the credit controller.
Organise annual member interaction events, such as greens nights and teaching evenings, to maintain strong member relationships.
Proactively sell memberships, corporate packages, and related products.
Organise, alongside the other HODs, the annual members meeting and event.
Alongside the events manager, control the Club diary with both internal and external events including member competitions.
Golf Course Engagement:
Attend bi-monthly ‘course walk’ meetings with the Course Manager to discuss course updates.
Build rapport with greenkeeping staff and stay updated on course machinery and processes.
Ensure smooth coordination of competitions, sign-ups, and member interactions regarding course updates and conditions.
Sales & Customer Service:
Alongside the events manager, handle general enquiries about green fees, golf days, and external events.
Alongside the events manager, proactively sell tee times and other golf-related services to new and existing customers.
Focus on guest relations, ensuring customer satisfaction takes precedence over administrative tasks.
Seek new business opportunities through corporate memberships, retail partnerships, and events.
General Operations & Strategic Planning:
Assist in coordinating Club social media activities with the office administrator.
Approve and manage invoices related to the Membership, Pro-shop, and Halfway House.
Support the Club’s strategic business plan, monitoring progress and reporting to the board.
Stay updated on industry trends, including developments in the golf, leisure, food, and beverage sectors.
Ensure data protection and safeguarding procedures are up to date and in compliance with regulations.
Attend monthly operations meetings with heads of departments and directors.
Be present on-site** during key operational times to ensure smooth running of the business.
