You will be responsible for maintaining the high standards expected of a James Braid parkland course, currently host to numerous county and England Golf competitions.
The incoming Course Manager will take a strategic role in course development and long-term maintenance planning. This includes managing, executing ongoing and future investment projects.

Salary: Minimum £67k

Established in 1897, Drayton Park Golf Club is a traditional James Braid-designed parkland course, renowned for its classic layout and modern standards. Re-laid with USGA-specification greens in 2001, the course has seen significant investment in recent years, reflecting the club’s commitment to excellence. In 2019, a Toro Lynx irrigation system was installed across greens, tees, and approaches, followed by the introduction of a new John Deere machinery fleet in 2020 as part of a rolling five-year renewal plan. In 2025, the club commenced the first phase of a comprehensive bunker renovation programme, upgrading all 59 bunkers with new drainage, liners, and sand. Currently a proud host of numerous county and England Golf competitions, Drayton Park continues to build on its strong reputation with a clear focus on ongoing improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of 6 greenkeepers, fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Maintenance Planning: Create and deliver effective course maintenance and preparation schedules
- Machinery management: Operate and maintain machinery to the highest safety and performance standards
- Course Development: Collaborate with the committee on long-term improvement plans
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all health, safety, and environmental regulations are met within the greenkeeping department and golf course
- Course Monitoring: Adapt maintenance to weather, seasons, and play demands
- Staff Mentoring: Support and upskill team members through structured development plans
- Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication with management, staff, and the membership
- Liase: Meet regularly with other HOD to ensure the course is prepared accurately alongside a busy and competitive club diary
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven managerial experience
- Demonstrate the ability to produce and maintain an exceptional course condition
- Must possess Strong leadership and people management skills
- PA1, PA2, and PA6 Spraying Certificates (essential)
- Chainsaw Certification (desirable)
- Must have a passion for greenkeeping and can do attitude
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
