Deputy Head Greenkeeper Vacancy - Royal St. George’s Golf Club

Founded in 1887, Royal St George's Golf Club holds a unique place in golfing history as the first club outside Scotland to host the Open Championship, a testament to our world-class status. Hosting the Open 15 times, most recently in 2021, and as the proud host of the 2025 Amateur Championship, we continue to set the standard for golfing excellence.
 
We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Greenkeeper to join our team as Deputy Head Greenkeeper. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated individual to play a key role with significant autonomy in delivering a world-class experience for our members and visitors, maintaining Open Championship standards.
 
The successful candidate will be instrumental in assisting in daily operations, future planning, and staff development. This is an exciting time for the club, with recent investments including clubhouse redevelopment, a complete machinery fleet replacement, and a new course maintenance facility, alongside ongoing course improvements.
 
 Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain exceptional greenkeeping standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members
- Demonstrate self-motivation, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic
- Show a commitment to personal development
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, members, and visitors
- Apply strong knowledge of Health & Safety compliance
- Work collaboratively with the senior greenkeeping team and other departments
- Utilisation of digital platforms for communication and record keeping

Ideal Candidate Profile:

- Proven managerial greenkeeping experience
- Experience managing and implementing construction projects
- PA1, 2, and 6 spraying certificates
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Knowledge of irrigation systems
