The successful candidate must be able to operate at both a tactical and strategic level, managing and continuously developing all aspects of the Club, maintaining high operational standards and ensuring a first-class experience for members, guests and visitors.

The Club:

An Alistair MacKenzie designed course – Willingdon Golf Club is a modern and progressive 18-hole community club located on the edge of Eastbourne and the beautiful South Downs National Park. Our compact downland course offers a real challenge to golfers of all abilities. The course is extremely well maintained and has excellent drainage allowing members to play all year round. We have a proud history having recently celebrated our 125th anniversary, we have an active membership of over 600 that includes popular Ladies, Seniors and Junior sections. In addition to our membership visitors are always welcome to come and enjoy our course that offers spectacular elevated views over Eastbourne and the coast beyond.

Our club hosts many competitions and after every round members and guests can enjoy a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in the clubhouse bar where drinks and food are always available. In addition, the clubhouse plays host to many social events that includes Quiz Nights, Christmas and New Year parties, prize presentations and private functions.

About the Role:

The successful candidate must be able to operate at both a tactical and strategic level, managing and continuously developing all aspects of the Club, maintaining high operational standards and ensuring a first-class experience for members, guests and visitors.

Responsibilities:

- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Club.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the Club’s strategic objectives.
- Lead and manage the departmental managers ensuring roles and performance.
- Working with the Club’s Bookkeeper to ensure all accounting procedures are being carried out promptly and efficiently.
- Liaise with the Professional regarding the promotion of competitions.
- Ensure compliance with HR responsibilities, including recruitment, staff contracts, holidays and sickness
- Scheduling of the Club Diary/Annual Fixtures – liaising with the relevant sections of the Club.
- Communication with the membership through the newsletters and social media

The Candidate we are looking for will have:

- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Golf Management (Manager or Assistant Manager)
- Financial oversight and experience in controlling budgets
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Sound knowledge of I.T. Systems including Club V1, Xero and all Microsoft products.
- Good organisational skills with a keen eye for details.
- Hands-on approach in day-to-day tasks with a problem-solving mindset
- Confident, outgoing personality.
