Overview:
Pontefract & District Golf Club, established in 1904, is set beside Pontefract racecourse on land originally owned by Lord St Oswald of Nostell but now completely owned by the golf club. Additional land was purchased some twenty years ago to extend the course, which now sits on over 120 acres of land.
This forward-thinking club is now looking to appoint a qualified Deputy Head Greenkeeper to work with the existing team. The successful applicant will demonstrate a passion for the industry and a drive to become part of an enthusiastic team who are in the process of enhancing the reputation of Pontefract & District golf club by providing a course that our members can be proud of and visitors can enjoy.
Description:
The successful applicant will be required to:
Support the Head Greenkeeper in planning and delivering all aspects of golf course maintenance.
Be able to stand in for the Head Greenkeeper when necessary.
Maintain strong communications with the management team and contribute to longer term planning.
Have a strong knowledge and experience of using modern greenkeeping equipment.
An understanding and knowledge of greenkeeping principles and practices, including fertiliser and pesticide application.
Career orientated with a strong work ethic and a passion for turf maintenance.
Flexibility to work weekends and early starts as part of a rota.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum NVQ level 2 working towards level 3 in sports turf maintenance.
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Leadership and communications skills.
- Chainsaw certificate (desirable).
