Wentworth Club is one of the world’s finest private members' Golf and Country Clubs, famous for its outstanding three Championship golf courses, in addition to a luxury Tennis & Health Club. The Club is surrounded and entwined within the Wentworth Estate, one of the most prestigious private estates in the London suburbs where many of the world’s premier golfers have their home.

To operate at both a tactical and strategic level, managing and continuously developing all aspects of the golf business. To provide a clear vision within customer service, to ensure excellence is consistently delivered, and revenues and profitability are maximised. Areas of responsibility include the Golf Academy, Driving Range, Professional Shop, Golf Professionals, and the Golf Services Team.

Basic salary plus car allowance and bonus.

Key Areas of Activity

Operational/Strategic Responsibilities
✓ Oversee the management and performance of all Golf operations and services, including the Pro Shop and retail operations, assuring the highest standards and total Member satisfaction.
✓ Manage projects within golf and develop/coordinate the development of annual business plans, monitor, and evaluate their success.
✓ Oversee all fiscal areas and performance for the golf operations, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and correction.
✓ Produce regular reports on financial performance and stock control.
✓ Continuously review and develop standard operating procedures for each area of the golf business to ensure maximum Member and Member guest satisfaction.
✓ Oversee the care and maintenance of all the physical assets, inventory, and resources of the golf facility.
✓ Ensure efficient and smooth flow of play on the golf courses, implementing policies and procedures to optimise the golfing experience for Members and guests.
✓ Be ultimately responsible for the performance of the Professional shop, golf operations, and the Golf Academy.
✓ Keep abreast of changes in the environment in which the organisation operates and use this knowledge to identify new business development opportunities for all areas of golf operations.
✓ Produce supporting operational plans for different business areas that will contribute to achieving the objectives set out in the strategic plan.
✓ Develop and oversee an innovative golf schedule and activities program that services all Member segments.
✓ Oversee golf marketing initiatives, working closely with the Marketing team, including all promotional materials and golf packages.
✓ Work closely with the Head of Golf Academy, Retail Manager, and Golf Operations Managers to ensure a smooth running of all areas within golf.
✓ Maintain a close working relationship with the Director of Greenkeeping & Grounds.
✓ Schedule and chair regular meetings with key golf department managers/area leads focused on Members, operations, revenue growth, cost control, and continuous improvement.
✓ Build good rapport with the Membership base and meet and greet prospective Members.

Financial Management
✓ Prepare capital expense budgets to support achievement of objectives.
✓ Establish, monitor, and analyse operating budgets and take prompt corrective action to address variances, ensuring each operating area is maximising efficiency and profitability.
✓ Develop and oversee a profitable merchandise strategy for the Pro Shop that is consistent with Member demographics and expectations.
✓ Establish revenue goals and forecasts for all golf programs and packages.
✓ Achieve revenue and contribution targets and identified KPIs for each aspect of golf operations.

Member and Guest Relations
✓ Foster positive relationships with Members, guests, and stakeholders, ensuring exceptional service, responsibilities, and personalised attention to their needs.
✓ Implement strategies to enhance Member engagement, satisfaction, and retention through innovative programs, events, and services.

Golf Courses Maintenance and Improvement
✓ Collaborate with the Director of Greenkeeping & Grounds to maintain the golf course to the highest standards of playability, aesthetics, and safety.
✓ Advise on course improvement projects, renovations, and agronomic practices to enhance course conditions and sustainability.

Leadership and Development
✓ Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate golf staff, including golf professionals, self-employed instructors, and Pro Shop personnel.
✓ Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enhance staff performance and service delivery.

Compliance and Risk Management
✓ Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and industry standards governing golf operations, safety, and environmental responsibilities.
✓ Implement risk management protocols and safety procedures to mitigate liabilities and ensure a safe and secure environment for Members and staff.

Personnel Responsibilities
✓ Plan the labour resource effectively to meet the service criteria for the department.
✓ Be a leader, able to influence, motivate, team build, and possess a coaching and mentoring style, with a ‘no problem’ mentality and positive, strong interpersonal skills.
✓ Appraise and assess all employees under your control annually according to guidelines.
✓ Comply with statutory and legal requirements for Fire, Health and Safety, and Employment.
✓ Ensure that high standards of hygiene, appearance, and dress are practised by employees.

Qualifications and Experience
✓ Proven track record of working in a similar role for a minimum of 2 years, ideally in a private Members Club.
✓ Experience in working overseas is advantageous.
✓ PGA Qualified (AGMS or Foundation degree).
✓ PGA Class A Member or higher.
✓ Maintain active membership in appropriate professional organisations.
✓ An enhanced DBS Check.
✓ Current safeguarding and protecting children certificate.
