MEMBERSHIP & EVENTS MANAGER OPPORTUNITY AT FRILFORD HEATH GOLF CLUB

The Membership & Events Manager will be a member-centric and commercially astute professional with a genuine passion for building relationships and fostering a strong sense of community. Responsible for managing the full membership lifecycle, they will focus on deepening member engagement at every touch point, ensuring experiences feel personal, valued, and aligned with the club’s ethos. They will lead the Membership & Events Team, coordinate over 250 annual competitions and matches, and oversee golf day bookings and corporate partnerships, creating a warm, welcoming environment while driving revenue across multiple streams. With oversight of the club’s CRM, they will maintain meaningful connections, identify upselling opportunities, and support retention through thoughtful, consistent communication. The role requires a strategic mindset, balancing service excellence with the ability to meet targets, grow membership, and maximise event profitability. The ideal candidate will have a background in hospitality or membership-focused environments, with proven success in relationship-building, sales, and team leadership, along with strong organisational and communication skills.

Frilford Heath Golf Club, established in 1908 in Oxfordshire, is a highly regarded club known for its rich history and excellent facilities. It features three championship courses—Red, Green, and Blue—each offering unique challenges that attract golfers of all skill levels. The Red and Blue Courses have hosted numerous prestigious tournaments, while the Green Course is popular amongst the members. The clubhouse, recently refurbished, combines traditional charm with modern amenities and serves as a welcoming hub for members and visitors alike. The club is highly regarded within the golfing community, having hosted significant events such as the Brabazon Trophy, Regional Open Qualifying, and the European Tour Q School, showcasing the quality of its courses and club.

MEMBERSHIP & EVENTS MANAGER POSITION OVERVIEW

The Membership & Events Manager will oversee all aspects of membership and events with a strong focus on building lasting relationships, enhancing member engagement, and delivering exceptional, personalised experiences throughout the entire member journey.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Champion member engagement by cultivating a sense of belonging, proactively encouraging participation in club life, and creating opportunities for meaningful interaction.
- Manage the full membership lifecycle, including proactive handling of enquiries, a seamless joining process, annual renewals, and strategies to improve retention.
- Build strong personal relationships with members to enhance their overall experience, support loyalty, and identify opportunities to upsell services, event bookings, and additional memberships.
- Deliver clear and consistent communication, including surveys, updates, and outreach to warm leads and new members.
- Oversee the Club’s CRM system to ensure effective enquiry handling, pipeline management, data accuracy, and service follow-through.
- Drive revenue across individual memberships, corporate partnerships, golf days, and private events, working closely with the club’s marketing agency on campaigns and repeat business.
- Manage golf day outreach and bookings, ensuring a high standard of service and strong conversion and rebooking rates.
- Oversee the planning and administration of member competitions and handicaps, including event setup, closing, results, and management of the full member event diary of 250+ fixtures annually.
- Identify and support members’ broader needs, encouraging use of the club’s facilities for personal and professional events.
- Benchmark performance against leading clubs to ensure best-in-class delivery and strategic positioning.
- Collaborate with the Director of Golf & Operations and senior team to deliver a consistent and values-led member experience.
- Lead, support, and develop the Membership & Events Team with clear expectations, motivation, and alignment to club culture.

CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

- Experience in a customer-facing or membership-based environment, ideally within a club, hospitality, or lifestyle setting.
- Commercial awareness with a track record in member engagement, sales growth, and retention.
- Highly organised with a process-led mindset and strong attention to detail.
- Personable, flexible, and confident in building genuine member relationships.
- Agile and dynamic, with the ability to balance daily operations with longer-term strategy.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – with an approachable and professional style.
- Strong administrative competence, particularly in managing diaries, events, and competition logistics.
- Skilled in CRM and reporting systems, with the ability to use data to drive performance and service improvement.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Industry certifications such as CMDip, CCM or PGA are encouraged but not required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
