The Club’s well-appointed bar, lounge, and restaurant provide convivial surroundings for members and guests, while the clubhouse can accommodate functions of up to 120 people. A former England Golf Club of the Year, Stanton stands as one of Nottinghamshire’s premier golfing venues.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an exceptional General Manager, who will also serve as Company Secretary, to lead the next chapter in the Club’s development. This full-time, on-site leadership role reports directly to the Board of Directors and carries full P&L responsibility. The successful candidate will be a visible, approachable, and trusted presence for both members and staff, ensuring the highest standards of service and operational excellence. You will lead the implementation of the Club’s Strategic Plan, driving progress in facility upgrades, digital modernisation, and member engagement, while delivering a first-class member and guest experience consistent with Stanton’s championship reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operational Oversight, lead all clubhouse and course operations, ensuring facilities and grounds are maintained to the highest standards through proactive and reactive maintenance.
- Leadership & Team Management, line-manage departmental heads, fostering collaboration, motivation, and accountability across all areas of the Club.
- Compliance & Governance, ensure full compliance with all statutory and legal requirements, including health and safety, fire safety, and licensing obligations.
- Workforce Planning, oversee staffing levels, recruitment, and development to maintain efficient operations and deliver outstanding member service.
- Financial Management, take full responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance, safeguarding the Club’s long-term stability and growth.
- Membership Growth & Retention, drive recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies across all membership categories to maintain a vibrant and sustainable Club community.
- Event Programming, oversee the planning and delivery of the Club’s annual golfing and social calendar, ensuring a diverse and engaging schedule for members.
- Strategic Development & Communication, work in partnership with the Board to deliver the Club’s strategic plan, ensuring transparent communication and engagement with members.
- External Relations, build and maintain strong relationships with governing bodies, local associations, and community partners, representing the Club with professionalism.
- Commercial Performance, lead initiatives to enhance revenue through effective marketing, hospitality, and operational excellence, ensuring continual improvement year-on-year.

About You:

- Proven experience in golf club, premium leisure, or hospitality management.
- Strong leadership skills with success managing multidisciplinary teams and working with Boards or Committees.
- Commercially astute with solid financial management experience and a record of driving sustainable growth.
- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, diplomatic, and organisational abilities.
- Knowledge of governance, health & safety, and compliance, with an appreciation for the traditions of private members’ clubs.
- Flexible and adaptable to the seasonal nature of the role, with an understanding of the need for weekend and occasional evening work.
- Based within, or willing to relocate to, one hour of the Club.
Desirable: CMAE/GCMA certification or equivalent management qualification.

Package & Benefits:

- Salary £48,000 to £50.000 pa.
- Employer pension contributions 3%
- Holidays 20 days + 8 bank holidays
- Contracted 40 hours per week
- Subsidised food on duty
