Littlehampton Golf Club has an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking General Manager to drive the club forward in accordance with it’s exciting and ambitious Strategic Plan. You will have full responsibility for all day-to-day operational activities including direct staff reports and finance.
Formed in 1889, Littlehampton is one of the oldest golf clubs in the south of England and the only links course in West Sussex. The Club is a private members Club run by a Management Board, with a current membership of around 580 playing members and a very strong green fee and society business. Turnover from golf subscriptions and visitor fees is anticipated to exceed £1m for the first time next year with ambition to drive further growth beyond inflation over the next few years.
Over recent years the club and course has taken significant strides forward and has been chosen to host a variety of events at county level. The course drains very well and is playable all year with a reputation for fast true greens and the traditional challenges of seaside links golf.
With many years of continuous operating profits coupled with continual investment into the club both on and off course, the club enjoys a secure financial position but now needs to push on to the next level. The new General Manager will be the primary influencer and driver of this plan over the coming years, which we expect to involve significant investment into facilities and potentially some exciting expansion projects.
The Role
As General Manager you will have a fantastic opportunity to influence and deliver an ambitious plan for the club with the full support of the Management Board. A natural leader with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to drive continuous improvement at all levels, you will work with the Management Board to enable our historic club to maximise its potential. In doing so, you will ensure the best possible golfing experience for our members and many visitors, continuously raising the profile of the club in the process.
You will have autonomous General Management responsibility for all elements of the club’s operation on and off course. The operation includes in-house bar and catering as well as a club shop, each of which is targeted to achieve profitable returns year on year.
