Overview:
Acting as both General Manager and Company Secretary, you will work closely with the Board and Committee to deliver an exceptional experience for members and guests, uphold strong governance, and support the Club’s continued development.
We are seeking a proactive, energetic, and committed individual with a genuine passion for customer service. You will be comfortable taking day to day responsibility for an independent business, confident in leading a multi-faceted and skilled team, equally at ease adopting a hands-on approach while maintaining visibility and engagement with our membership.

Recruiting for a General Manager:
Worksop Golf Club (WGC) is a private members’ club located between Sheffield and Nottingham, offering excellent access to both the M1 and A1. Recognised as one of the region’s finest courses, WGC proudly hosted the 2022 English Men’s Amateur Championship. A true championship venue, the course is renowned for its rapid-draining terrain and its distinctive blend of heathland and parkland characteristics, recently re-ranked at 160 in Courses in England with strategic plans to climb higher.
With over five hundred members and an annual turnover of approximately £1m, the Club has delivered consistent operating surpluses in recent years, enabling meaningful reinvestment into both the course and the clubhouse. In addition to our ongoing capital replacement programme, a phased bunker redevelopment project is underway, scheduled for completion in 2028. Our food and beverage service is operated fully in-house, supported by a clubhouse that offers panoramic views, an inviting lounge, dining room, and a newly created 19th-hole bar providing an exceptional environment for golfers and social visitors alike

Position Overview :
Acting as both General Manager and Company Secretary, you will work closely with the Board and Committee to deliver an exceptional experience for members and guests, uphold strong governance, and support the Club’s continued development.
We are seeking a proactive, energetic, and committed individual with a genuine passion for customer service. You will be comfortable taking day to day responsibility for an independent business, confident in leading a multi-faceted and skilled team, equally at ease adopting a hands-on approach while maintaining visibility and engagement with our membership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership in the day-to-day management of all Club operations, working collaboratively with the Committee and Board.
- Line-manage and support the Club’s department heads, including the Club Administrator, Food & Beverage Manager, Club Professional and Head Greenkeeper.
- Oversee the effective operation of catering, bar services, the pro shop, golf operations and all administrative functions.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of Company Secretary for Worksop Golf Club Ltd, ensuring compliance with statutory and governance requirements.
- Maintain robust financial control across all areas of the Club, delivering accurate reporting to the Board and Committees in line with agreed procedures.
- Manage and take full responsibility for annual membership subscriptions, including pricing, renewals, new member sales, and retention strategies.
- Act as a visible ambassador for the Club, ensuring members and guests receive a warm, professional and courteous welcome at all times.
- Lead the ongoing review, development and implementation of Club policies to ensure best practice and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with members, staff and visitors, representing the Club positively within regional and national golfing networks.
Our Ideal Candidate :
- You will live within an hour’s commute of the Club, or be happy to relocate, so you can be part of the local community we serve
- You bring experience in golf club management, preferably holding PGA status or a GCMA qualification or accreditation
- You bring a proven track record of delivering excellent service and operational results
- Play golf at a good level and demonstrate a strong personal interest in the sport.
- Understand the nature of a 7-day operational environment and must be available to work flexibly to support the activities of the Club.
