Hesketh Golf Club require a Links Manager to lead our Greenkeeping team in providing a first class golf course to its members and visitors.

Hesketh Golf Club is a highly regarded Championship course in Southport on England’s Golf Coast. The club has a proud history of hosting county, regional and international events, most recently, Regional Qualifying for The Open and The English Under 18’s Championship. The club is set to host Regional Qualifying once again in 2026 for The Open at Royal Birkdale.

The successful candidate will lead our dedicated team who are responsible for the maintenance and development of our championship links course. 

Candidates should be self-motivated, enthusiastic and possess excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their exceptional understanding of greenkeeping practices and have an ongoing eye for detail and improvements. An excellent overall understanding of Health and Safety protocols in the workplace is required as operating safely is a requirement for our team to work effectively.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Club Secretary Manager and Links Director, Hesketh Golf Club is seeking a forward-thinking and progressive Links Manager to lead the greenkeeping team and oversee all aspects of course presentation, preparation, playability and development. The Links Manager plays a key role within the club’s management structure.

The Links Manager is responsible for maintaining the high standards expected of a Regional Qualifying venue and one situated proudly on England’s Golf Coast. The club is a regular host to county, England Golf and R&A events.

The incoming Links Manager will take a strategic role in course development, transformation and long-term maintenance planning. This includes managing the fleet of equipment, planning and delivering ongoing and future projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Team Leadership: Lead and develop our team of greenkeepers and artisans, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Maintenance Planning: Create and deliver effective course maintenance and preparation schedules in conjunction with our Executive Links Committee.
- Machinery management: Operate and maintain machinery to the highest safety and performance standards.
- Course Development: Collaborate with the Executive Links Committee on long-term improvement plans.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all health, safety, and environmental regulations are met within the greenkeeping department and golf course.
- Course Monitoring: Adapt maintenance to weather, seasons, and play demands.
- Staff Mentoring: Support and upskill team members through structured development plans.
- Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication with management, staff, and the membership.
- Liaise: Meet regularly with other Heads of Departments to ensure the course is prepared accurately alongside a busy and competitive club diary.

What We’re Looking For:

- Proven managerial experience.
- The ability to produce and maintain an exceptional course condition.
- Must possess strong leadership and people management skills.
- PA1, PA2, and PA6 Spraying Certificates.
- Chainsaw Certification.
- Must have a passion for greenkeeping and can do attitude.
- An ongoing and relentless desire for improvement and attention to detail.
