Royal Birkdale Golf Club is one of the world’s most iconic Championship Links, located in the heart of England’s Golf Coast. Founded in 1889 and redesigned in 1932 by Fred Hawtree and JH Taylor, the course follows the natural valleys of the dunes, creating a challenging and visually stunning layout. The Club has a rich heritage and continues to host elite events, including the upcoming 2026 Open Championship.

Since staging its first Open in 1954, Royal Birkdale has hosted 10 Open Championships, 6 Women’s Opens, 1 Senior Open, 2 Ryder Cups and the 2020 Amateur Championship. In recent years the club has completed a comprehensive masterplan with architects Mackenzie and Ebert, enhancing the course while preserving its historic character.

We are seeking a full-time Greenkeeper to join our highly skilled and dedicated team. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the preparation and presentation of a world-class course, gaining invaluable experience in tournament preparation and championship-level course management. There is excellent scope for career progression for ambitious and motivated individuals.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and maintain the golf course to the highest daily standards.
- Operate and maintain turf care machinery and equipment.
- Assist with renovation, construction, and course improvement projects.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively as part of our professional greenkeeping team.

Essential Requirements

- NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years’ greenkeeping experience.
- Strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail.
- Sound knowledge of modern greenkeeping practices.
- Good understanding and appreciation of the game of golf.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Full UK driving licence.
