Description:

Scottish Golf is seeking a volunteer Chair for the Boys’ and Girls’ Selection Committees. This individual will be responsible for chairing a range of meetings to determine the selection of international teams. This position will not have a vote within the committee to select teams.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CHAIR OF SELECTORS

- Responsible to the Head of Performance & Pathway for the management of selection procedures
- Lead the selection committee for the National Boys’ and Girls’ Programmes enabling each to fulfil its purpose
- Ensure that selection policies are followed regarding selection of teams
- Liaise, as required, with Scottish Golf’s designated Performance Programme Manager who supports the management of one, or both, squads
- Knowledgeable of the detail associated with the Scottish Golf Order of Merit references for selection purposes, ensuring the respective selection panel is fully versed
- Plan, prepare and Chair the selection committee meetings as appropriate
- Following appropriate selection discussions communicate final decisions with the designated Scottish Golf Performance Programme Manager
- Manage all selection panel conflict of interests – always ensuring integrity of purpose
- Build appropriate intelligence on players that are trending towards National selection, working with Scottish Golf’s Performance Programme Manager

SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

- Relevant knowledge of U18 and U16 Scottish and International golf as appropriate
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Experience working with volunteers
- Outstanding communicator with interpersonal skills
- Reliable, trustworthy and a good listener
- Ability to understand & appreciation for the need for confidentiality
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Flexibility
- Able to work independently and as part of a team

TIME COMMITMENT

The number of meetings and events will be agreed with the Performance Team. Please note this is a non-remunerated position; travel, accommodation and subsistence costs will be covered for each meeting.
