Overview:

The Apprentice Greenkeeper will work alongside our experienced greens team to learn the skills and techniques needed to maintain and enhance our 18- hole golf course and surrounding practice areas.

The role will comprise 1 year of practical, on the job, training followed by enrolment in the Apprenticeship Training Scheme run by the Scottish Rural College (SRUC). This training scheme comprises 2 years of online learning, supported by regular onsite reviews of progress to achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Sports Turf Management.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience and a nationally recognised qualification while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Description:

An opportunity has arisen to join the greenkeeping team at Easter Moffat Golf Club near Airdrie in North Lanarkshire. The club was founded in 1922 and is an 18-hole mixture of parkland and moorland golf course.

The current team is small but very focused in their efforts to make Easter Moffat Golf Club the best it can be.

Easter Moffat Golf Club is looking for an ambitious and passionate Apprentice Greenkeeper that will support the club in its greenkeeping activities.

The club is committed to developing and upskilling its team and focused driving supporting professional development.

Apprentice Position Overview

The Apprentice Greenkeeper will work alongside our experienced greens team to learn the skills and techniques needed to maintain and enhance our 18- hole golf course and surrounding practice areas.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the golf course, including mowing greens, fairways, tees and rough

- Help with bunker raking, divot repairs and general course upkeep

- Learn to safely operate and maintain a range of turf machinery and equipment

- Monitor the health and condition of turf, identifying issues such as pests and diseases or drainage problems

- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations

- Support the team is delivering high standards of presentation and playability across the course

About You

-A motivated individual, eager to learn and develop industry recognised skills in greenkeeping, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:

- A genuine interest in golf and sports turf management

- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

- Good communication and teamwork skills

- A commitment to personal and professional development

- Basic understanding of health and safety principles (training will be provided)

- Be ambitious about your development

- Good attention to detail

- Good time management

Qualifications:

- No prior experience is required, full training will be provided

- A valid driving licence is beneficial but not essential
