An excellent opportunity has arisen at Blackburn Golf Club for a committed and enthusiastic Assistant Greenkeeper to join our existing Greens team. This is an exciting time for our Club as we are about to embark on a £1.5m investment programme on the course and the clubhouse.
Founded in 1894, our par 71 parkland course enjoys outstanding views of the Pennine Hills and Lancashire coast. It is a private members 18 hole course and is highly accessible being situated within a few miles of Junction 31 of the M6 and Junction 6 of the M65.
Reporting to the Head Greenkeeper, the successful candidate will be expected to help maintain the course to the highest standard in line with the Club’s Golf Course Policy, and with exciting development plans in progress, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to showcase their current skills and attributes as well as developing new ones. There are also excellent career progression opportunities.
The Role:
- Full time position 40 hours per week within a flexible work pattern
- Weekend/Bank Holiday work on a rota basis paid as additional overtime
- 20 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays

The Candidate should have:
- Minimum NVQ level 2 or equivalent sports turf qualification
- Ideally 2 years’ green keeping experience
- Able to safely operate a wide range of golf course machinery
- Good time management and communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team but who can work under their own initiative
- PA 1, 2 & 6 Spraying Certificates (Desirable but not essential)
- Chainsaw Certificates (Desirable but not essential)
- Salary is Dependent on Qualifications and Experience
