Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands Golf Club - Course Manager

Due to our existing Course Manager’s growing reputation, he has secured an exciting new career opportunity.  We are therefore recruiting for a highly motivated Course Manager to join the team at Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands Golf Club and continued the progressive work of recent years.  You must have the drive, and attention to detail to continually improve the course and strive for excellence. You will appreciate the history of the Club and course and have the ability to enhance the reputation of the course, extending the high standards the members are accustomed to providing an all-inclusive course to suit all abilities and our broad membership base.  As a proven team leader, you will be able to prioritise, multi-task, and work within the senior management team, remaining diplomatic and inclusive.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have had a minimum of 2 years' experience of budget responsibility and leading a successful team as well as being able to demonstrate their own vision of how a course should be presented, a passion for the adoption of greener working practices and the ability to influence people, whether colleagues, Directors or Club members.

Essential:

- A hands-on Course Manager capable of working well under pressure as well as having the ability to supervise and motivate your colleagues
- Possess a wealth of technical greenkeeping and agronomy skills including fine turf experience coupled with the “eye of a golfer” to ensure the course is presented with the golfer in mind
- Ability and experience to inspire, motivate and manage a team to achieve the objectives set by the Golf Club, and contribute to setting these objectives
- Demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, effective communications, strong IT capabilities, and interpersonal skills with appropriate professional qualifications
- Have an eye for detail and commitment to deliver the highest standards, and the ability to install this culture within the wider team. Working with a pragmatic “can do” attitude
- A good working knowledge and application of health and safety, employment, and other legislative requirements
- Be smart in appearance, present the team in a professional manner and maintain a clean and tidy maintenance facility
- Excellent administrative skills, able to prepare/manage operational and Capex budgets, and produce accurate, timely reports
- Competent in the operation and maintenance of a modern computerised irrigation system and utilisation of onsite weather station and POGO resources to aid data led decision making

Desirable:

- Heathland and Park Land Experience
- Construction experience, specifically relating to drainage projects and bunkers
- Working knowledge of, or desire to create, a sustainable green keeping operation to secure the long-term future viability of the course/club
- Qualifications, skills, experience:
- Hold Level 3 and 4 qualifications in turf management or equivalent
- Hold PA1, PA2, and PA6 spray qualifications
- First aid at work certificate holder
- Full driving licence
- Excavator experience (desirable)
- Chainsaw certificates (desirable)

Remuneration: 

- Remuneration Package in the region of £45K - £55K dependant on knowledge, experience and skill set
- Full support with career development, including further education and training where required
- BIGGA membership costs covered
- Golfing privileges
- Accommodation is not available with this role
