This is a key leadership role, with responsibility for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of all club services — from clubhouse operations and member engagement to finances, marketing, and staff development. Colt—boasts breathtaking views over Morecambe Bay and the Lake District fells. With 18 distinctive holes stretching over 6,259 yards, we’re proud to be one of the most scenic and cherished golf clubs in Cumbria.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll report directly to the Management Board to align business goals with club values, and work closely with a dedicated team, including the Food & Beverage Manager, Head Greenkeeper, Office Administrator, and our Club Professional. You’ll also liaise with board of Ulverston Golf Club Services Ltd., the club’s trading subsidiary.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take the lead across the following areas:

People & Culture

- Inspire and support your team with clear goals, regular communication and leadership by example.
- Oversee recruitment and professional growth, nurturing a warm and motivated club culture.
- Ensure the wellbeing of staff and uphold high standards for both employees and members alike.
- Champion continuous improvement by embedding clear, achievable KPIs.

Finance & Planning

- Collaborate with the Board to shape and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-term business plans.
- Monitor income and expenditure, flagging any trends and opportunities along the way.
- Drive efficiencies while maintaining top-tier standards in every area of club life.

Club Operations & Administration

- Ensure club operations—from procurement to member correspondence—run like clockwork.
- Support member meetings and evening events with thoughtful coordination.
- Keep members up to date on club matters through regular communication and ongoing engagement.
- Stay informed and curious about the future of the golf industry, helping Ulverston Golf Club evolve and thrive.

Marketing & Growth

- Help grow the club by promoting the club’s offerings, events, and its idyllic setting.
- Use social media and the club website to raise our profile and welcome new visitors and members.
- Collaborate on corporate days, society events, and open competitions that celebrate what makes Ulverston Golf Club special.

Clubhouse & Facilities

- Lead the House Committee and keep our buildings and surroundings in top shape.
- Oversee maintenance and repair projects with care and attention to detail.

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

- A confident, people-focused leader with proven business acumen (GCMA qualification a plus)
- Experienced in managing teams and financial operations
- Adaptable, positive, and always ready to roll up your sleeves
- Familiar with the golf world and understand what makes a member-led club tick
- Knowledgeable about current legislation around employment, safety, safeguarding, and more
