In addition, the General Manager will be accountable for the execution of day-to-day administrative, financial, and supervisory responsibilities, ensuring the club operates efficiently, professionally, and in a manner that reflects its inclusive and member-focused values.

About Us:
Henbury Golf Club, established in 1891 on Coombe Hill in Bristol, is a charming 18‑hole parkland course measuring around 6,001 yards with a par‑69 layout. Nestled in mature woodland, it offers a traditionally designed, tree‑lined challenge where accuracy off the tee and precise approach shots are rewarded. The course enjoys a lively social scene and hosts regular competitions and societies, welcoming both members and visitors. Facilities include a welcoming clubhouse with bar, restaurant, events space, plus pro‑shop, coaching, and buggy hire. Overall, Henbury offers a historic, picturesque golfing experience just four miles from Bristol’s centre.
Position Overview:

The role demands effective communication across all levels of the club, ensuring clear and consistent engagement with members, committees, partners, and stakeholders. In addition, the General Manager will be accountable for the execution of day-to-day administrative, financial, and supervisory responsibilities, ensuring the club operates efficiently, professionally, and in a manner that reflects its inclusive and member-focused values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational leadership: Oversee daily golf and clubhouse operations, including staffing, golf operations, beverage, catering, events and administration.
- Member experience: Ensure exceptional service standards, fostering a friendly, inclusive and welcoming environment for all members, societies, and visitors.
- Financial management: Produce annual budgets, manage P&L, identify revenue opportunities (green fees, memberships, events).
- Team leadership: Recruit, train and inspire a high‑performing, customer‑focused workforce.
- Course maintenance: Coordinate with the Head Greenkeeper to maintain our 18‑hole, 6,001‑yard course in top condition, along with the clubhouse surrounds.
- Marketing & events: Promote the club, grow society and open tee bookings, support teaching academy programmes.
- Governance & compliance: Ensure regulatory compliance, health & safety, GDPR, licensing, and support committee-led governance.
About You:
Essential:
- Proven leadership in hospitality or sports club management
- Strong commercial acumen, budgeting, and P&L experience
- Team‑leading, staff mentoring, and HR knowledge
- Strong personality with experience in managing diverse stakeholder expectations
- Previous project management experience
- IT systems including Intelligent Golf
Desirable:
- Familiarity with club governance, capex projects, and regulatory compliancereate fun, vibrant, and highly rewarding careers for individuals who are passionate and driven.
- Experience within golf club operations or sports leisure sector
- Strong marketing and community engagement sensibility
- Knowledge of greens and course maintenance principles
