Overview:
We are now seeking a Course Manager who is passionate about their work. The successful candidate will be responsible for general management and maintenance of the golf course and other outdoor areas. This role requires effective leadership skills, good knowledge of turf management and the ability to successfully manage a team of greenskeepers and demonstrate exemplary leadership and commitment.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and driven to produce quality surfaces all year round with an up-to-date knowledge of modern green-keeping techniques.
Description:
Within the Capital, and beneath the spectacular backdrop of Arthur’s Seat, you will find one of Scotland’s most outstanding parkland courses. Situated within minutes of Edinburgh’s busy city centre this tranquil setting has been home to Duddingston Golf Club since 1895 – a course with rich history and known for its challenging design and sweeping fairways. Set in delightful surroundings, the Braid Burn is a key feature, which meanders throughout the course, coming into play on no fewer than 14 of the 18 holes, always sitting in wait to grab that errant shot!

What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in high-quality golf course maintenance
- Current supervisory/management role (Deputy Head or similar)
- NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent higher qualification with scope for further progression
- PA1, PA2, and PA6a spraying certificates with hands-on experience
- Can control and compile budgets for the course
- The ability to prepare fertiliser and spray programmes on a yearly basis
- Produce Course reports for greens committee, the Board and on projects/winter programme etc
- Produce machinery reports and 3–5-year machinery replacement programmes
- An understanding of modern course machinery and an understanding of irrigation systems
- Work with and be part of the Duddingston GC management team
- Proven leadership, motivational and communication skills
- High personal standards, strong work ethic, and a proactive attitude
- Passion for golf course management and career progression
