Ringway Golf Club is an 18-hole private members' club in Hale Barns, near Altrincham, Cheshire. Founded in 1909, it boasts a full and active playing membership.
Our beautiful and picturesque parkland course is regarded as one of the best in Cheshire. Due to career progression, we are seeking a Deputy Course Manager to help take Ringway to the next level. The successful candidate will build on recent achievements and support our vision of being a recognised leader by ensuring that our on-course experience and practice facilities consistently exceed the expectations of members and visitors.
The successful candidate will require the following:
✔ Experience in a similar supervisory role for at least 3 years
✔ Ability to ensure the greenkeeping team employs recognised agronomic principles to optimise year-round playing quality
✔ Capacity to support the Course Manager in maintaining the course in line with the traditions of the game and the history and heritage of the course and its designer
✔ Skills to supervise and help create delegated work programmes, ensuring tasks are completed in ways and at times that minimise inconvenience to golfers
✔ Capability to deliver training, ensuring course staff possess and maintain the required levels of knowledge and ability to deliver high standards
✔ Knowledge of all health & safety legislation relating to greenkeeping equipment, chemicals, and waste handling
✔ Ability to identify and convey initiatives and opportunities to the Course Manager to increase cost-effectiveness without compromising quality and standards
✔ Competence in maintaining comprehensive and auditable records of activities, including pesticide spraying, fertiliser applications, maintenance schedules, staff rotas, and machinery servicing
✔ Skills to maintain and employ an effective, reliable range of modern greenkeeping machinery to optimise playing quality, presentation, and turf health across the course and practice facilities
✔ Experience in the promotion and development of ecology management in line with R&A recommendations
✔ NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Sports Turf Management
✔ PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates
✔ Highly organised with the ability to manage deadlines in a structured way while minimising reactivity
