Finance Officer
Overview:
The Alwoodley Golf Club is a private member’s golf club, situated in North Leeds. Consistently ranked within the top 20 courses in England.
Due to retirement, we are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Officer to provide financial and administrative support for the Club Manager and Treasurer, to maintain the financial records and accounts, and to promptly implement relevant instructions and policies of the Committee in conjunction with the Club Manager and Treasurer.

Key Responsibilities
Finance:
· Assist the Club Manager and when required, other Committee members, in ensuring that all financial correspondence and enquiries are dealt with promptly and courteously.
· Maintain a sound accounting system (currently Sage) to provide accurate and detailed management reports.
· Monitor the Club’s income from subscriptions, ensuring prompt payment receipts and reconciliation.
· Reconcile key items such as member top ups, visitor deposits, green fee income and competition monies plus the income from card payments and online vouchers.
· Prompt members who are overdrawn to top up their accounts, minimising debts to the Club.
· Use the membership and tee booking software (Intelligent Golf) to provide useful statistical analysis to support financial initiatives.
· Provide monthly ‘departmental’ reports to the Course Manager, Professional and Club Manager, in liaison with the Treasurer, comparing costs with budget and showing financial performance.
· Record and process all invoices through to payment.
· Securely bank all till and green fee receipts, and produce operational analyses as required, including regular green fee projections.
· Reconcile all banking statements, ensuring correct accounting for all payments and receipts.
· Process the payroll for the Club’s staff, including reporting to HMRC and the pension provider, and complete payroll year end reporting in a timely manner.
· Submit quarterly VAT returns on behalf of the Club.
· Ensure any Corporation Tax due is paid annually in good time.
· In conjunction with the Treasurer and Club Manager, maintain a minimum five year plan and five year capital expenditure plan. Review actual capital expenditure quarterly.
· Maintain depreciation schedules and calculations for the annual accounts.
· With direction from the Treasurer, produce cashflow forecasts as required.
· Draft the Club’s annual accounts for review by the Treasurer and assist in responding to any queries from the auditors.
· Review charges made by the Club periodically, including golf cart hire and team match costs.
· Invoice external bodies and visitors where required and ensure payments are received in a timely manner.
Administrative:
· In conjunction with the Club Manager, prepare and issue the paperwork for the AGM and the annual subscription notices.
· Attend Executive Committee meetings and also General Committee meetings when required.
· Assist the Club Manager in retaining appropriate files for the HR requirements of Club staff.
· Assist other staff as required, eg by taking tee bookings, answering the main Club emails.
· Provide cover for office staff in periods of absence.
What We’re Looking For
· Previous experience in a finance or accounts role (essential).
· Strong IT skills including use of Microsoft Office and Outlook (essential)
· Familiarity with Sage accounts software (desirable).
· Payroll and HR experience (desirable).
· Golf club knowledge or experience (desirable).
· Strong administrative & organisational skills with attention to detail.
· A team player with good communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
Package
· Part Time – 25 hours per week. Monday to Friday. Working hours within normal office hours but open to negotiation.
