The first assistant Greenkeeper will support the Course Manager and Deputy Course Manager in the day to day management of the Golf course and lead the team in their absence. The role will involve the preparation and maintenance of all playing surfaces to the highest standard, operation and upkeep of course machinery and assisting with projects that form part of the clubs long term development plan. The successful candidate will be expected to set a good example, contribute ideas and take on responsibility for areas such as irrigation, spraying and machinery care.

Kent West Kent Golf Club, established in 1916, is a traditional yet progressive private members’ club located in the Kent countryside just outside London. The parkland course offers an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all abilities and is set in an area of natural beauty. With a strong history and a loyal membership, the club is now looking ahead with a vision to further improve the condition and presentation of the course over the coming years. We are seeking a First Assistant Greenkeeper to join our team and play a key role in helping us deliver these improvements.

The first assistant Greenkeeper will support the Course Manager and Deputy Course Manager in the day to day management of the Golf course and lead the team in their absence. The role will involve the preparation and maintenance of all playing surfaces to the highest standard, operation and upkeep of course machinery and assisting with projects that form part of the clubs long term development plan. The successful candidate will be expected to set a good example, contribute ideas and take on responsibility for areas such as irrigation, spraying and machinery care.

The successful candidate will:

• Hold a minimum of Level 3 qualification in Sports Turf Management (or equivalent)

• Have at least 5 years’ greenkeeping experience

• Possess PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates

• Have good knowledge of irrigation systems (Rain Bird preferred)

• Ideally demonstrate strong mechanical skills for day-to-day machinery care and maintenance

• Be enthusiastic, reliable, and able to lead by example within the team
