Overview:
The General Manager will report to the Board Chair and will be fully responsible for all the Club’s day-to-day management. This includes leadership and management of the senior team comprising the Clubhouse and office operations, the Course Manager and the PGA Professional.
The successful applicant will have a proven track record in golf club, leisure or hospitality management and in leading and inspiring dedicated teams. They need to be knowledgeable and interested in golf, have or be able to develop, strong links with the professional golfing bodies and possess the business skills required to take our operation forward.
The ability and willingness to communicate with members and staff in a friendly and positive manner is essential and candidates should have strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Financial management, budgeting and planning are key elements of this role and the successful General Manager will work closely with the Chair and Finance Director. Expectations are that the new General Manager will contribute positively towards developing and implementing the strategic goals of the Board.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, self-motivated and forward-thinking individual to develop their career as the new General Manager at Olton Golf Club.
The General Manager will report to the Board Chair and will be fully responsible for all the Club’s day-to-day management. This includes leadership and management of the senior team comprising the Clubhouse and office operations, the Course Manager and the PGA Professional.
As a private members’ club, Olton GC is constantly evolving with a highly regarded golf course, an excellent golf professional team, and welcoming clubhouse hospitality. Simultaneously the Club has undergone a complete change of governance to a more strategic Board and we are developing strategies to support our future success.

Essential Skills:
- Leadership and managerial experience from a golf club environment or leisure/hospitality industries.
- An appreciation of golf, and of the expectations and traditions of a members’ club
- Commercial understanding of running a business.
- Effective management of staff and leading teams by example.
- Pro-active in customer and member-facing operations.
- Flexible approach to working hours in order to carry out the duties required
- Effective communication skills.
- Good IT skills with an understanding of golf management or comparable software, social media and general Office packages.
- Sound management experience and understanding of green-keeping priorities including machinery requirements and staffing levels.
- Experience of leading an F&B team for routine daily service and for Club/private events.
- Sound grasp of legislative and regulatory requirements.
