About Us
Lochmaben Golf Club is a well-established and welcoming members’ club set in the beautiful countryside of Dumfries & Galloway, South West Scotland. The club boasts an 18-hole parkland course with stunning views, a fully stocked clubhouse with bar and catering facilities, and a friendly, active membership.
Following our recent transition to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) and the creation of a trading limited company, we are entering an exciting new chapter in our history. We are looking for a skilled and financially astute General Manager to guide the club’s operations, ensure sound financial stewardship, and deliver on our strategic goals.
The Role
This is a pivotal leadership position with a strong emphasis on financial management, supported by customer service excellence and operational control. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Financial Leadership
- Preparing and managing the club’s annual budget in consultation with the Board
- Producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts and presenting them to the Board
- Monitoring performance against budget and highlighting variances or emerging issues
- Overseeing cashflow, financial controls, and cost management
- Managing payroll for all staff
- Working with auditors and ensuring compliance with all statutory financial requirements
Operational & HR Management
- Managing day-to-day operations across the clubhouse, course, and administration
- Dealing with visitors, handling bookings, and processing deposits
- Managing all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, appraisals, training, and disciplinary procedures
- Managing marketing, communications, and social media presence
- Ensuring compliance with all legal, licensing, and health & safety regulations
What We’re Looking For
- Proven management experience in a golf club, hospitality, or leisure setting, with significant financial responsibility
- Experience using Club V1 golf management software and Xero accounting software preferrable
- Strong budgeting, payroll, HR, reporting, and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Leadership ability to motivate and manage staff effectively
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong customer service focus with the ability to build positive relationships with members and visitors
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
