Founded in 1892, Headingley Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Leeds and one of Yorkshire’s premier private members’ clubs. Set in the stunning countryside between Leeds and Ilkley, the course was influenced by the renowned architects Dr. Alister MacKenzie and Harry Colt, offering a unique blend of moorland and parkland golf with magnificent views and a true challenge for players of all abilities.

Headingley Golf Club is now seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead the Club into its next phase of growth and success. This is a pivotal and rewarding role for a proven leader with strong operational and strategic abilities.

Reporting to the Committee, the General Manager will oversee all aspects of club operations – including golf services, food and beverage, finance, HR, and membership experience – ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the Club while working closely with the Board to deliver long-term strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage the overall daily operations of the Club, ensuring consistently high standards across all departments.
- Work closely with the Committee to deliver and evolve the Club’s strategic vision.
- Manage and support departmental staff, creating a positive and high-performing team culture.
- Oversee all financial processes in partnership with the Club’s Bookkeeper/Treasurer – budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial controls.
- Act as a key liaison with the Golf reception staff and Golf Committee for competitions, fixtures, and member engagement.
- Manage compliance with all legal, licensing, HR, and health and safety requirements.
- Drive membership engagement, communications, and marketing through newsletters, events, social media, and digital channels.
- Promote a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for members, guests, and visitors.

About You:

We are looking for a confident, motivated and hands-on leader with the skills and passion to deliver a premium member experience and to help shape the future of one of Yorkshire’s most prestigious golf clubs.

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in golf club or hospitality management (General Manager or Assistant Manager level).
- Strong financial and commercial acumen with a track record in budgeting and business planning.
- Inspirational leadership and people management skills.
- Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in relevant I.T. systems including Club V1, Xero and Microsoft Office.
- A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
- Experience in member engagement and digital communications (email, website, social media) is highly desirable.
