About us:

Alwoodley is regarded as one of Britain’s finest inland courses, as well as being of great historical significance, as the first course designed by the great Dr Alister MacKenzie, the famed architect who left a legacy of classic courses around the world – among them Augusta National, Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne.

As the ‘Original MacKenzie’ Alwoodley retains the same layout to this day, although the course has now been lengthened to over 6,900 yards from the championship tees. A classic heathland course, set high atop Wigton Moor, is long established as one of Great Britain and Ireland’s top 100 courses. The tight, springy, fast-running fairways are cut out of heather and gorse.

The Role:

We are currently recruiting for a full time Qualified Greenkeeper to join our experienced and skilled team.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a positive attitude and strong work ethic who is able to demonstrate their dedication and passion for the role.

Key Responsibilities:

- Carry out all tasks given by the Course Manager
- Maintain bunkers and all playing surfaces and always present them to their highest level
- Maintain high standards of Health and Safety at all times

Candidate requirements:

- Display a high standard of greenkeeping skills
- Have a varied and extensive knowledge in all aspects of course maintenance
- Have an ability to work unsupervised and within a team environment
- A desire to develop their knowledge and skills
- A team player able to communicate effectively with colleagues, members, guests and visitors
- Have knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety theory and compliance
- Be punctual and have a flexible approach to working hours including bank holidays and weekends on a rota basis

Advantageous, but not essential:

- NVQ Level 3 or above Greenkeeping
- Chainsaw certificates
- Mechanical skills / knowledge of machinery repairs
- The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A keen eye for detail in all aspects of work
- An understanding of the game of golf
- 3 years greenkeeping experience
- NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management or equivalent
- PA1, PA2, PA6 Spraying certificates
- Full UK driving license
