Whitley Bay Golf Club is one of the premier private members’ clubs in the North East of England, with a proud history dating back to 1890. We’re now looking for an exceptional General Manager to lead our next chapter – someone who shares our commitment to quality, tradition and outstanding service.

About the Role:

As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Club, reporting directly to the Chair of the Board. You’ll lead and develop a small but dedicated team, maintain high operational standards, and ensure a first-class experience for members, guests and visitors.

From finance and facilities to events and member experience, you’ll play a key role in shaping the Club’s performance and future direction. You’ll work closely with the Board and sub-committees, external suppliers, and our professional and catering teams.

This is a hands-on, people-focused role that calls for commercial acumen, operational confidence, and a passion for delivering excellence in a members’ club setting.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for someone who combines proven leadership with warmth, resilience and professionalism. You’ll need:

- Experience managing a golf club, sports club or hospitality venue
- A flexible, can-do approach, including availability for one Saturday a month
- Strong financial awareness and experience managing budgets
- Confidence leading multifunctional teams and supporting performance
- Solid knowledge of health & safety and employment-related responsibilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- It would be great if you also bring:
- Experience using finance systems and/or bookkeeping
- An appreciation of the game of golf and the traditions of a private members’ club
- Awareness of governance in member-led organisations
- Social media experience and a flair for communications
