Description:
Scottish Golf is seeking a volunteer Captain to support the Performance Programme at identified events where Scottish Golf travel with players as a Men’s team. The Team Captain role will assist the Team Coach during the event and provide a safe and supportive environment for all team members.
Events may take place in the UK and abroad and will predominately be between the months of April-September.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TEAM CAPTAIN
- Responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of the team/delegation at all times, maintaining a duty of care for the team on and off the course.
- To liaise with the Scottish Golf Performance Department regarding logistical arrangements for the event such as travel, accommodation and catering
- To be accountable for the adherence to Scottish Golf’s Safeguarding policies and procedures
- Communicate relevant information from event organisers to golfers, coaches and any support staff as required during the event
- On occasions be prepared to drive a minibus or hire car
Note: The above list is not regarded as exclusive or exhaustive, as there may be other duties and requirements within the role, which may be required to perform from time to time.
SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
- Experience of National/County level competition
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Reliable, trustworthy and a good listener
- Ability to understand & appreciation for the need for confidentiality
- Approachable & Friendly
- Experience of working with children and young people
REQUIREMENTS
- PVG Scheme Membership (application can be made on successful appointment)
- Complete a self-declaration
- Current clean driving license
TRAINING AND SUPPORT REQUIRED
- Safeguarding & Protecting Children Workshop (renewable every 3 years)
- First Aid
TIME COMMITTMENT
The number of trips and commitment will be agreed with the Performance Programme Manager as Scottish Golf attends a number of team events each year. Please note this is a non-remunerated position; travel, accommodation and subsistence costs will be covered for each event in conjunction with the arrangements made for the relevant trip. Availability to attend training dates throughout the winter period will be shared also, with attendance required to at least two days to meet players/coaches and establish a healthy working relationship.
