Charley Hull seals Kroger Queen City victory

September 15, 2025

England’s Charley Hull is back in the LPGA winner’s circle after capturing the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G at TPC River’s Bend. The 29-year-old edged Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul in dramatic circumstances on Sunday, sealing her first LPGA victory since 2022 and the third of her career.

Hull, who began the final round with a one-shot advantage, was locked in a thrilling duel with world No. 1 Thitikul for much of the day. Both reached the 18th green with eagle chances, but the championship swung unexpectedly when Thitikul four-putted for bogey, leaving the door wide open. Hull, visibly shaken by the turn of events, rolled in her birdie to close at 20-under-par, one clear of her rival.

“I honestly thought I’d need an eagle to tie,” Hull admitted afterwards. “I wasn’t even watching her putt because I expected it to go in. When I realised what happened, I was shaking. To finally get it done feels amazing.”

The victory continues a remarkable trend on the LPGA Tour this season: 25 tournaments, 25 different champions, a streak stretching all the way back to January’s season opener in Orlando.

Hull’s round was far from straightforward. She surged early with three birdies in a row on holes six through eight but stumbled with a bogey on 13. Thitikul capitalised, moving ahead with a birdie on 14, before Hull clawed back on the par-3 16th. After trading blows, it all came down to the final hole, where composure, and a touch of fortune, decided the outcome.

The win ends a long drought for Hull, who has endured multiple near-misses over the past two years, including a playoff loss at this same event in 2023. “I’ve had so many second-place finishes recently, it felt like I was always the bridesmaid. Now I finally feel like the bride,” she joked.

The chasing pack

Atthaya Thitikul: Solo second at 19-under, her 11th top-10 of 2025 and second straight runner-up finish.

Lottie Woad (England, rookie): Impressive solo third at 18-under in just her fifth start as a full member.

Miyu Yamashita: Fourth at 17-under, fresh off her AIG Women’s Open triumph.

Group at 15-under: Included Nelly Korda, Maja Stark, and five others tied for fifth.

Lydia Ko (defending champion): Tied 14th after a final-round 67.

For Hull, the timing could hardly be better with major team and season-ending events still to come. “I’m buzzing,” she said.

“The International Crown, Korea, The ANNIKA, Tour Championship – I’ve got so much to look forward to. And now I know I can win again.”
