Scottie Scheffler clinches The Open Championship title

July 22, 2025

Scottie Scheffler secured another milestone in his illustrious season by winning The Open Championship with a composed and clinical final round at Royal Troon. The American finished at 12-under-par, delivering rounds of 68, 67, 70, and 67 to hold off a strong chasing pack.

This win marks Scheffler’s second major of the year and his first Open title, further solidifying his position at the top of the world rankings. Known for his calm temperament and consistency, Scheffler’s performance across the blustery Scottish conditions was nothing short of masterful.

Strong Showing from UK and Irish Golfers

England’s Tommy Fleetwood once again came close, finishing in a tie for second at 9-under. He thrilled the crowds with a four-round display of quality and poise, including a final-round 68.

Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland also kept fans on edge, finishing solo fourth at 8-under. Although he couldn’t add another Claret Jug to his trophy cabinet, McIlroy’s performance was solid throughout, giving home fans plenty to cheer for.

Other notable UK performances included Matt Fitzpatrick and Tyrrell Hatton, who both finished inside the top 20, underlining the depth of British golf on the global stage.
