Dan Bradbury Triumphs at Open de France with Final Round Surge
October 13, 2024
The 25-year-old surged on the back nine with four birdies, finishing at 16-under overall for his second career win on the European Tour. He narrowly edged out Denmark's Jeff Winther, who shot an impressive 64, featuring seven birdies in a flawless round.
With this victory, Bradbury secured spots in both the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the World Tour Championship in Dubai.
Bradbury reflected on the win, noting that his initial goal was simply to make the cut and avoid a trip to Korea to keep his tour card. With the win in hand, he acknowledged that Dubai is now on the horizon.
Winther, despite his strong push, parred the final two holes and tied for second place alongside fellow Dane Thorbjørn Olesen (68), England's Sam Bairstow (68), and Germany's Yannik Paul (66) at Le Golf National, located just outside Paris.
Bradbury’s confidence grew when he narrowly avoided the water on the 15th hole and followed it up by sinking a 15-foot putt, a moment he felt confirmed it was his day.
Sweden's Jesper Svensson, who held a one-shot lead overnight, endured a disastrous 5-over-par 76, dropping to a tie for 27th. He struggled with three bogeys and two birdies on the front nine, followed by two more bogeys and a double bogey on the back nine.
Bradbury, two shots behind Svensson at the start of the day, claimed his first European Tour victory two years ago at the Joburg Open in South Africa.
England’s Justin Rose, runner-up at this year’s British Open, shot a 69 to finish tied for 13th at 10 under par. Meanwhile, 16-year-old Ukrainian Lev Grinberg (71), playing only his fifth European Tour event, finished tied for 37th.
