May 15, 2024
The website's launch on May 15th coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week (May 13-19), underscoring England Golf's dedication to promoting mental wellness through the game. This platform is rich with advice, tips, and real-life case studies, all available to view [here].
Following the success of the Respect in Golf initiative in 2023, England Golf continues to demonstrate its steadfast commitment to inclusivity and accessibility within the sport. This latest initiative provides an excellent resource for anyone eager to start playing golf.
Whether users are complete beginners or seeking a local activity, the website offers a seamless experience to explore, book, and pay for golfing activities. It provides essential beginner information, including the benefits of golf, inspiring community stories, and top tips for players at all levels. Additionally, the "Get Course Ready in 5 Weeks" video series equips newcomers with the necessary skills and knowledge to confidently step onto a golf course.
The launch aligns with the Mental Health Foundation's theme for the week, "Movement: Moving more for your mental health." The website highlights how golf can help reduce stress, keep players active, and foster social connections.
Beginners can enjoy golf in various forms, such as adventure/mini golf and driving ranges. Programmes like Get Into Golf Rookies, Girls Golf Rocks, and Women on Par cater to all abilities and backgrounds, encouraging activity and movement. Affiliated golf clubs and facilities can freely upload their activities to the website, with nearly 500 activities from over 240 providers already available. [Register your facility here].
Richard Flint, England Golf's Chief Operating Officer, stated: "Golf is an ideal sport for promoting movement and enhancing mental wellbeing. Whether it’s on the course or learning to play, the Get Into Golf website is the go-to resource."
"Our ambition with the Get Into Golf campaign is to make the sport more inclusive and accessible to a wider audience, allowing them to utilise this platform to achieve their golfing goals. We estimate around 5 million people in England engage with golf in some form, be it driving ranges or mini golf. Get Into Golf is designed to help them take the next steps in their golfing journey and enjoy the health benefits the game offers."
