Alfred Dunhill renews Links Championship deal through 2030
October 13, 2025
It is a continuation that feels entirely fitting. Alfred Dunhill, the visionary founder behind the British luxury brand established in 1893, embodied innovation and adventure, qualities that mirror the spirit of links golf itself.
The story began 40 years ago with the Alfred Dunhill Cup, an international team event that drew golfers from around the world to the Old Course at St Andrews. Sixteen years later, in 2001, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship was born, blending elite professional competition with a unique team format that pairs leading golfers with prominent amateurs.
Guy Sanan of the Championship Committee said:
“The Dunhill Links was conceived by our Chairman, Johann Rupert, as a celebration of links golf at its finest. To play on three of the world’s most iconic courses, St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, is something special. This region is a place of pilgrimage for golfers everywhere, and it is a privilege to host the Championship here.”
Sanan also paid tribute to those who help make the event possible.
“The teams at each course, the local communities, and the volunteers have become an essential part of the Championship’s success. Their support, along with our valued partnership with the DP World Tour, has allowed the Dunhill Links to grow into something truly unique, a showcase for the region and for the game itself.”
DP World Tour Chief Executive Guy Kinnings echoed that sentiment:
“We are proud to play on the world’s finest courses, and St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns are undoubtedly among them. Our thanks go to Johann Rupert and Alfred Dunhill for their enduring commitment, not only to world-class links golf but also to the important charitable initiatives supported by the Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation.”
Since its establishment in 2011, the Foundation has become a cornerstone of the Championship’s ethos. It supports emerging amateur golfers in Scotland and South Africa, the University of St Andrews, and the St Andrews Pilgrim Foundation, which helps preserve the town’s historic landmarks.
From the Home of Golf to the shores of Kingsbarns, those who host the event are equally proud of its legacy.
Neil Coulson of St Andrews Links Trust said:
“We are delighted to continue our partnership and look forward to many more special moments.”
Ross Blackadder of Carnoustie Golf Links added:
“It is a privilege to welcome the world’s best golfers to Golf’s Greatest Test.”
Art Dunkley of Kingsbarns concluded:
“This Championship has flourished over the years, attracting the best in the world while giving back to the communities that make Scottish golf so special.”
As the Championship looks ahead to 2030, its message is clear. Alfred Dunhill’s connection to Scottish golf is not only enduring but evolving, ensuring that the spirit of links golf remains alive for generations to come.
