Penge Seals Maiden DP World Tour Win

April 28, 2025

Marco Penge celebrated his first DP World Tour title on Sunday with a commanding victory at the Hainan Classic in China, marking an impressive comeback after a challenging spell away from the game.

The 26-year-old English golfer, who returned to the circuit just two months ago following a three-month suspension for breaching the tour’s betting regulations, produced a superb final-round 67 to secure a three-shot win at Mission Hills.

Penge, who had led heading into the final day, briefly slipped behind American Sean Crocker around the turn. However, a brilliant run of three consecutive birdies from the 12th hole put him firmly back in control, and he held his nerve to finish the tournament on 17-under-par.

Crocker, with a closing 66, finished tied for second alongside Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan, while Denmark’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen claimed fourth place a further stroke behind.

With this win, Penge not only captured his maiden trophy but also secured a place at next month’s US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. His strong finish in the DP World Tour’s Asian Swing standings — placing third behind Japan’s Keita Nakajima and Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra — earned him an invitation to the major.

Penge’s victory is a significant moment in his career, highlighting both his talent and resilience as he looks to establish himself further on the international stage.
