Titleist unveils new GT280 Mini Driver

April 01, 2025

Titleist has launched the all-new GT280 mini driver, the latest addition to its GT metalwood family. Designed to deliver explosive distance off the tee and dependable playability from the turf, the GT280 bridges the gap between driver and fairway wood by combining proven technologies from both categories.

With a 280cc head and 13° of loft, the GT280 offers a unique profile: longer and more forgiving than a fairway wood, yet easier to control and shape than a traditional driver. It’s engineered for players seeking versatility at the top end of the bag – whether for consistent tee shots or confident turf play.

“GT280 is a completely new offering, shaped by player feedback,” said Josh Talge, VP of Golf Club Marketing at Titleist. “Some players see it purely as a tee club. Others want it to perform off the deck. We’ve designed it to excel in both scenarios.”

“When we introduced the first prototype last year, the performance fit was clear for both pros and amateurs,” added Tom Bennett, Principal Product Manager, Metalwood R&D. “Whether it replaces your strong fairway wood or serves as a go-to ‘15th club,’ GT280 fills a real performance need.”

Key Technologies

Seamless Thermoform Crown

Borrowed from GT drivers, the PMP crown design offers weight savings while preserving Titleist’s signature sound and feel. The lighter crown allows engineers to optimise CG placement for high speed and launch performance.

Forward/Aft CG Adjustability

Inspired by the GT4 driver, GT280 includes interchangeable 11g and 3g weights to fine-tune launch and spin. This dual-position system adapts to a player’s preferred ball flight, whether they need high launch or a lower, more penetrating trajectory.

Forged L-Cup Face

GT280’s face features a forged L-Cup insert that wraps around the sole for added speed and reduced spin on low-face strikes. The design delivers consistent performance both off the tee and from the turf.

Lower Leading Edge

The lowered leading edge and softened sole curvature make the GT280 easier to launch from the ground. Players will notice a confidence-inspiring look at address and improved turf interaction.

“We’ve effectively brought the leading edge closer to the ground,” said Bennett. “Players immediately feel it’s easier to hit from the turf than you’d expect for a club with this face depth.”
