Russell Henley wins Arnold Palmer invitational with stunning eagle

March 10, 2025

Russell Henley secured victory at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational with a dramatic chip-in eagle on the 16th hole, finishing one shot ahead of runner-up Collin Morikawa. The 35-year-old American kept his nerve over the final two holes, carding consecutive pars to seal his fifth PGA Tour title – his first in nearly two and a half years.

Before his crucial eagle, Henley had been level par for the day. He went on to finish with a two-under 70, while Morikawa shot a final-round 72, allowing Henley to overtake him and claim the win.

Henley’s back nine proved decisive. He had been three shots adrift of Morikawa at the turn, and a bogey on the 10th didn’t help his cause. However, he found his rhythm, picking up two birdies before delivering the defining moment on the 16th.

Henley ends 854-day wait for victory

Before this win, Henley had gone 854 days without lifting a PGA Tour trophy. His previous triumph came at the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico on 6 November 2022, where he finished 23-under to win by four shots over Brian Harman. That victory had been set up by back-to-back rounds of 63, allowing him to cruise to the finish.

Since then, Henley had consistently performed well but struggled to secure another win. He had been tied with Sungjae Im for the most top-10 finishes without a victory (10) since 2024 – a streak he finally ended at Bay Hill.

Prize money

Henley’s triumph earned him a $4 million payday, while Morikawa took home $2.2 million for his second-place finish. Corey Conners secured $1.4 million in third, while Michael Kim rounded out the million-dollar earners, collecting $1 million for fourth place.
