Scottie Scheffler wins back-to-back Memorial titles, joins Tiger Woods in elite company

June 02, 2025

Scottie Scheffler continued his dominant run on the PGA Tour by securing a four-shot victory at the 2025 Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, becoming only the second player after Tiger Woods to win the event in consecutive years.

Scheffler posted a final-round 2-under-par 70 at Muirfield Village Golf Club, finishing at 10-under 278, four strokes ahead of runner-up Ben Griffin. This marks Scheffler’s third win in his last four starts, following victories at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and his maiden PGA Championship title in May.

The 28-year-old world number one demonstrated remarkable consistency throughout the tournament, becoming the only player to shoot under par in all four rounds. His steady play was highlighted by a crucial birdie on the par-5 11th hole, which extended his lead after Griffin missed a short birdie attempt. Griffin's subsequent bogeys on the 12th and 13th holes widened the gap, allowing Scheffler to cruise to victory.

“It’s always a hard week,” Scheffler said after the win. “We battled really hard on the weekend. Overall, it was a great week.”

Scheffler's triumph earned him $4 million from the $20 million purse, bringing his 2025 season earnings to over $14.5 million.

Off the course, a light-hearted moment occurred when Scheffler celebrated with his wife, Meredith, and their infant son, Bennett. As he held his son, fans noticed a visible diaper mishap, prompting laughter and social media buzz. Scheffler took it in stride, embodying the balance between professional success and fatherhood.

With the U.S. Open less than two weeks away, Scheffler's recent form positions him as a strong contender. His improved putting, a previous weakness, has been a significant factor in his recent success, transforming him into an even more formidable competitor on the tour.

As Scheffler continues to build his legacy, his performance at the Memorial Tournament not only cements his status as the world's top golfer but also places him alongside legends like Tiger Woods in the annals of golf history.
