Full Job Description

The Club:
Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club is a private Members club, situated is in the heart of Edinburgh close to the city centre near to all travel links. The course was originally designed by Ben Sayers in 1907 and altered by James Braid in 1936. The course is challenging and fun, boasting fantastic views across Fife, the Lothians and many of Edinburgh’s historic landmarks.

A modern south-facing clubhouse was built in 2001 looking towards the Pentland Hills. The clubhouse offers first class facilities and catering for members and visitors alike.

The Role
The Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club is seeking to appoint a new Club Manager who will be expected to lead the professional team of the Club to deliver an outstanding service to members, guests and visitors.

There is the potential for the right individual to take on a range of the golfing duties from the current PGA professional who is nearing retirement and looking to step down from his current position.

The successful candidate will report to the Captain and Council of MEGC. A willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, to meet the demands of the position is required.

The Candidate
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate

- Strong people management skills
- Leadership, motivation, communication and marketing skills and a high level of IT literacy
- Knowledge of employment laws and H&S legislation
- Sound financial and commercial acumen
- Previous experience working with a volunteer committee structure
- Golf course appreciation and understanding of the expectations/traditions of a Golf Club

In addition, holding or seeking to attain a golfing professional qualification would be of interest. There is potential for personal professional development.

Remuneration
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent.
Salary Circa £33,500 pa
