Description:

Established in 1938, Musselburgh Golf Club is a prestigious members club situated 7miles away from Edinburgh city centre and sits at the start of East Lothian’s Golf Coast. Musselburgh is a great parkland course designed by James Braid and provides an excellent challenge to members and visitors alike.

We have many exciting projects planned and the successful candidate will be a main contributor to the decision making for these. Some of these projects include, tee levelling and building, bunker construction and re design, irrigation, drainage and tree management.

The successful candidate will be working alongside the head greenkeeper and must be able to demonstrate positive and assertive skills, be able to lead by example, carry out work to a high standard and encourage other members of staff.

Working week 40 hours Monday to Friday and weekend working on a rota basis with extra shifts for competitions. Saturday overtime time and a half and double time for Sundays. Starting times vary from summer to winter

Role and responsibilities

- Support the head greenkeeper in all aspects of course maintenance, team leadership and project planning
- Lead the greenkeeping team in the absence of the head greenkeeper
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently
- Monitor course quality and help implement best practices to improve playability and sustainability
- Assist with staff training and development

The successful candidate for the role will need to demonstrate to us the following qualifications, experience and skills

- Nvq level 3/HNC or equivalent
- At least 5 years greenkeeping experience and 3 years in a similar role
- Pa1, Pa2 and Pa6 spraying certificates
- Chainsaw certificate desired but not essential
- Knowledge of irrigation maintenance, use and repair
- Knowledge of machinery maintenance
- Demonstrate and knowledge of safe working practices
- Have an ambitious approach towards developing your career within the greenkeeping industry
- Full drivers license
- First aid trained desirable
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Interest in the game of golf
