Description:

A modern Club, we have moved to a new governance structure led by the Chair and Management Committee. Forward-thinking, we place a real emphasis on delivering a great golfing experience. As well as an extensive gents’ membership we have vibrant ladies and junior sections. We are also recognised for our ‘Get into Golf’ offering.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated General Manager to work alongside the Management Committee to deliver an ambitious strategy for the Club. The role holder must be proactive; a strategic thinker with a positive and progressive outlook, who can lead and inspire our people. An outline of the responsibilities and requirements of the role is given below however this will evolve as the Club’s business model and strategy evolve going forward.

Key Responsibilities

Full responsibility for the running the business – this will require a strong set of leadership capabilities. With a team of over twenty personnel, you will be responsible for the management and development of all staff which includes Course; Food & Beverage; Administration and Golf Professional.

Ensuring the Club’s financial stability now and into the future. With experience in finance and governance you will manage budgets and ensure cost control; generate revenue by growing our corporate and sponsorship streams; provide financial forecasting reports.

You will also be strong in implementing and maintaining all operational policies and procedures ensuring strong Compliance and Governance across all relevant areas including legal and H&S requirements.

You will foster a positive, member-focused culture and golfing experience, working also with the Captain’s Committee. Therefore, you will need to have extensive experience in golfing operations to ensure the Club’s events; tournaments and other club activities are delivered.

Assisting in the development and then ensuring delivery of our strategic goals you will need to be a strategic thinker with a can-do attitude that can work also work flexibly to ensure delivery.

Experience and Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of experience in Club management or a similar role.
CMAE Management Development Programme Parts 1 & 2
Experience in business management, hospitality, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of golf club operations and the hospitality industry.
Proven leadership including team management skills - recognised for growing talent.
Proven financial acumen and experience in budget management.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
Marketing and social media experience in developing a strong golf club brand.
IT literate and proficient in using club management software and other relevant technology.
