Tommy Fleetwood wins in India
October 19, 2025
The victory, his eighth on the DP World Tour, capped off a sensational run of form that has seen him become one of the standout players in world golf.
Fleetwood arrived at the Delhi Golf Club already riding a wave of momentum. In August, he finally captured his first PGA TOUR title at the Tour Championship to secure the FedExCup. Then in September, he played a pivotal role in Europe’s historic away Ryder Cup win at Bethpage Black. The triumph in India now moves him into the top five in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time.
Starting the final round two shots behind Japan’s Keita Nakajima, Fleetwood fired a superb seven-under-par 65 to finish at 22 under. A brilliant stretch of four consecutive birdies from the seventh to the tenth saw him surge into contention, before further birdies at the 14th and 17th cemented his lead.
Nakajima, who closed with a 69, finished two shots behind on 20 under, continuing his strong run of form in India, where he has now registered one win and two runner-up finishes on the DP World Tour since 2024. Shane Lowry, Alex Fitzpatrick, and Thriston Lawrence shared third place on 18 under.
Fleetwood’s putting was razor-sharp throughout the final day, and his calm composure under pressure was key as others around him faltered. Daniel Hillier, who had briefly led after a front-nine charge, dropped out of contention with a costly double bogey on the 14th followed by another dropped shot on the 15th.
The win was made all the more special by the presence of Fleetwood’s young son, Frankie, who joined him for emotional celebrations on the 18th green. The pair had spoken the previous week about wanting to share that exact moment — a father and son embracing after a tournament win — and in Delhi, it finally happened.
It was the kind of story that defines Fleetwood’s year: a blend of hard work, resilience, and heartfelt moments that have captured the imagination of golf fans across the world. His 2025 campaign has showcased not just his skill but also a new level of maturity and consistency, proving that he belongs among the game’s elite.
The Delhi victory also underlines Fleetwood’s growing reputation as one of golf’s most complete players — capable of winning on any course, in any conditions, against world-class opposition. As the season enters its final stretch, few would bet against him adding another title before the year is out.
